Pikes Peak Paralegals was organized and chartered in October of 1977 for the purpose of providing continuing legal education and to promote professionalism in the paralegal profession. The original name of the organization was Association of Legal Assistants of Colorado. The name was changed in April of 2005 upon motion of the Board to better reflect the organization’s location and educational goals. In September 1991, the organization incorporated under the name of Association of Legal Assistants of Colorado, Inc. (ALAC), a nonprofit corporation. ALAC was the FIRST affiliated association with the National Association of Legal Assistants, Inc. in 1978.
